Many are the churches to be visited near Cusio and Lake Orta.

This attraction springs fundamentally from two reasons: on the one hand the historical and artistic importance.
The Romanesque art in Novara is well expressed in religious buildings, first of all in that diamond mounted in the small St. Julius Island, the Romanesque Basilica founded by the Saint in 390 A.D. which conserves his remains. The Romanesque art in Novara is also predominant in the wonderful Church of S. Maria Assunta, in Armeno, and in many other ancient suburbs of this area.

Another side that makes Lake Orta churches so important as tourist destinations during the whole year and also as wedding places is undoubtedly the panoramic one. Many are the Churches, the Sanctuaries, and the very Sacred Mount of Orta that offer both the grounds for increasing people’s artistic and spiritual culture and their landscape interest thanks to their position. The “Madonna del Sasso” commands over the lake from the East slopes and the Sanctuary of ”Madonna della Bocciola” from the West ones. Two wonderful and amazing panoramic places with views that sweep over the lake and the hills, up to the surrounding mountains full of woods and itineraries; there are spots where you can enjoy the alpine mountain range, with Monte Rosa standing out over all the others, and then the Swiss mountains up to those near Como, and on the other side is the plain where gazes fade... breathtaking panoramas, the charm of the view, a pleasure for your eyes too, and not only for your mind…

History, art and views: here are the enticing sides of Cusio area and Lake Orta, and the churches that you can visit all over the territory are full of them, as well as the centre of ancient suburbs and the wooden slopes of the mountains, sometimes secluded in the countryside, sometimes vertically on the Lake. Moreover, they are all full of history and traditions that live in all their intensity still today; for instance, the patronal feast day in Omegna which represents one of the most important traditional events in the whole country.
