Mostra Permanente Museo degli Alberghieri
Permanent Exhibition of the Hotel Keepers (Armeno)
Armeno is the home of hotel keepers; it is still a mystery the reason why, at least four centuries ago, thousands of people set off for reaching kitchens and restaurants of round half the world. According to the legend, this tradition was born from people’s service towards Milanese nobles who used to live between Lake Maggiore and Lake Orta during the summer or the whole year in the past, beginning from the Visconti and the Borromeo, even though many were the nobles that left their trails in palaces and dwellings.
The professions of the cook and the hotel keeper have taken Cusio’s people all over the world with their traditions to protect, and the museum collects the testimonies of those who worked away from home such as chefs, hotel keepers or common waiters who brought their memories back to their native land. There are some special menus for parties, pictures, rare cookery books, press cuttings that testify this specialisation of Armeno`s inhabitants, with a particular focus on historic events and their protagonists.
