Museo del Rubinetto e della sua TecnologiaTaps and fittings’ technology Museum (San Maurizio d’Opaglio)
Southern Cusio has been the most important district of valves, taps and fittings in Italy for many decades. An important tradition for these centres, whose economy is closely connected to this activity. San Maurizio defines itself the country of taps and fittings, and it is precisely this historical knowledge and this heritage to protect; that’s why in 1995 a permanent exhibition turned into a real museum later on. Not only taps and fittings, but also the history of the relation between man and water since the antiquity is concerned, up to a recent goal: carrying water in every single house.
It’s the history of hygiene, health, technological innovation, a social history about water in a museum itinerary that begins in Greek and Roman times and touches the main dates of this history, such as the invention of the tap screw during the XIXth century to get as far as the post-unitary industrial development of this area in province of Novara, Basso Cusio and especially San Maurizio d’Opaglio.
A history full of new technologies and achievements of the modern society: we hardly realize that a lot of research and many innovations have been necessary to get to this useful technology, within everyone’s reach, even though it seems so trivial to turn a tap on.

Open from June 15th to September 15th
Open hours: on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m.
During the rest of the year it opens on demand.
Free admittance (it is also possible to enjoy guided tours and didactic activities).
