The Museum of Woodworking (Pettenasco)

The tradition of turned wood articles’ homemade production of plunges its roots into Cusio, where it had been started up ever since the second half of the XIXth century.

Hydraulic water mills in Pettenasco were turned into industries during the 1920s for woodworking production and in the same country 6 of them were built, which increased the value of this activity whose development continued to flourish till the 1970s. The production especially regards the tools, such as salt and pepper mills.

Today, this historic tradition is being rediscovered thanks to this Museum situated inside the old Pettinasco’s industries. The goods on display date back to the beginning of the XXth century, but the factory also shows genuine tools and machineries of old turner’s studios. A museum that tells of local traditions, stories of labour but also everyday life and useful objects of the past that the modern society risks forgetting.

Information:
Open from June 15th to September 15th;
During the rest of the year it opens on demand.
Open hours: from Tuesday to Friday from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m.
On Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 to 12:00 a.m. and from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Closed on Mondays.
Free admittance.
