Parco di Germagno – Alpe Quaggione
Germagno’s Park – Alpe QuaggioneGermagno’s Park was born during
the 1960s on the initiative of a group of inhabitants whose aim was the
construction of a route connecting the suburb with Alpe Cardello.
In about
ten years the task has been completed by the consortium for the private
inter-estate route, leading the road up to Alpe Quaggione, at a height of 1167
meters above sea level.
During the 1990s, a municipal committee was set
up to protect and increase the value of this work and the surrounding natural
environment. Thus, Germagno’s Park - Alpe Quaggione was created: a network of
equipped areas, car parks and itineraries, exploited by the Commue of Germagno
and directed to the protection of the territory too, thanks to a set of rules
that regulates its fruition.
The Park offers a variety of excursions for
all ages and of different degrees of difficulty that lead up to the top of Mount
Zuccaro, at a height of 1338 meters above sea level. The view that you can enjoy
from the peak is peerless, and the mountain is often the launch site of
paragliding.
From the small chapel on the top, the view sweeps over Lake
Orta, Omegna and Mount Mottarone, and farther over Lake Maggiore and Verbania.
From that point it is possible to continue walking up to one of the highest
peaks of Strona Valley that divides the first tract from Ossola, Mount Massone,
at a height of 2161 meters above sea level; this itinerary is fairly considered
one of the most appreciated Alpine panoramic points.
A town Park offering
all the charm of big Nature Parks: Germagno’s Park—Alpe Quaggione is always run
by a municipal committee whom the care of the private inter-estate route leading
to Alpe Quaggione is due to.
