Giro Lago is a new initiative of Ecomuseo Cusius: it is a set of different itineraries that can be travelled on foot as well as by mountain bike and that form on the whole a circular road around Lake Orta, a sort of ring that runs through interesting places such as museums, and which becomes a real artistical and cultural proposal liven up by the passion for open air, for hiking and cycling.
The main project of Giro Lago suggests two kinds of trips: the “Anello Azzurro” is consecrated to “on foot” itineraries, while “Anello Verde” is related to Mountain Bike ones.
The trips wind mainly along paths and dirt roads as well as along asphalt roads: the basic choice is rediscovering and increasing the value of those old roads that today frantic life runs the risk of erasing from the maps. The trips are described in detail and they are presented together with maps to get the tourist’s bearings.
For those who are fond of technology, Giro Lago also offers a set of files for GPS devices.
So far the laps linking Orta to Pella, Pella to Omegna, and Omegna to Orta are available: the entire tour around the Lake is well described to be covered on foot in different stages (the all Anello Azzurro).
Moreover, the project contemplates new proposals, such as the Anello Verde consecrated to the mountain bike as well as Anello Grigio, related to mountain paths, far from the main roads, plunged into charming inlets that slopes down directly to the Lake, such as Strona Valley.
